85CC MINI SR 1 12-13
The Mini Sr 1 class produced some fantastic racing between Husqvarna’s Larry Reyes Jr. and Rides Unlimited Racing’s Kaeden Amerine. The two of them swapped moto wins with Reyes taking the second moto and the overall. Chandler Baker put in a consistent performance to score 3-4 moto finishes over the weekend, securing the final spot on the overall podium. In the first moto, Kaeden Amerine charged from a 3rd place start in order to work his way past Reyes Jr. as well as Crockett Myers throughout the first half of the moto. Amerine set the fastest lap of the race by almost two seconds over his competitors once he hit the front of the pack, riding away
to an 8.8 second gap as he took the checkered flag. Reyes Jr. rode the second half of the moto in a comfortable 2nd position ahead of Oklahoma’s Chandler Baker as he showed incredible composure to ride a blinding pace until the closing lap. Baker had to battle his way onto the podium after a 4th place start; he worked his way past Crockett Myers on the fourth lap, relegating the Suzuki rider back to 4th position. Brandon Walther rose from the middle of the pack with blinding speed after a mediocre start to nab the position from Myers on the very last lap. Larry Reyes Jr. worked his way to the front of the field after a 3rd place start in the second moto; he passed Kaeden Amerine and Matthew Curler for the 1st place position on the second lap and never looked back, clocking the fastest lap of the race with only one to go. Rides Unlimited’s Amerine was involved in a tight battle with Curler on the 2nd lap, but he was able to claim the position definitively on the third lap, attempting to charge down Reyes once he got an open track ahead of him. Curler put in a solid moto in order to round out the podium, but Chandler Baker put on a serious charge from 7th to 4th in order to earn the final overall podium spot.
