COLLEGEBOY
Channing Hunt put his Kawasaki on top of the Collegeboy class with 3-1 moto scores throughout both races. Blake Howle just edged out Dar Comfort as they traded 4-2 finishes with Howle scoring the better second moto finish to win the tiebreaker. It was Addison Emory IV who shone out front during the first moto from start to finish. He put his Yamaha at the front of the field ahead of the Honda of John Citrola. Dar Comfort found himself in 3rd place off the start and he put pressure on Citrola throughout the moto, inching closer and closer to the 2nd place position. The pressure forced Citrola into a mistake on the final lap, forfeiting the 2nd position to South Carolina’s Comfort. Channing Hunt put in one of the rides of the weekend as he fought back from a 17th place start all the way to the final spot on the podium. The Missouri native made up five places on the first lap, rushing through the pack with scorching speed. He put in the fastest time of the race on the 3rd lap as he worked his way into 8th position, eventually advancing three positions on the final lap, making the last pass on Blake Howle who rode in 4th place for the entire moto. Hunt made things much easier on himself in the second moto as he got out to a 2nd place start behind Texas’ Blake Howle. Howle was able to lead the race ahead of Hunt for half of the moto, but the Suzuki rider wasn’t able to resist the charging Kawasaki for the entire race. Hunt put in the fastest lap of the moto with only a couple of laps to go and built a 3 second gap ahead of Howle up until the checkered flag. Chad Saultz suffered a mistake and a poor finish in the first moto, but he more than made up for his mistake with a stellar performance in the second race. He surged forward from 13th position on the opening lap all the way to 3rd position by the end of the race, passing Dar Comfort for the final spot on the ultimate lap. But, Comfort’s consistency was enough to earn him an overall podium throughout both races.
