JOSHUA VARIZE
Joshua Varize tasted victory at the Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch back in 2014 with a trio of moto victories in the 65cc (10-11) Lim- ited class. It’s a rare occurrence that a rider is so dominant at the Amateur National Championships that they remain unde- feated for three straight motos, but that’s exactly what the Orange Brigade rider managed to do. In the past two seasons
of racing, Varize is yet to find his way back to the overall podium at Loretta’s, but he’s still shown the speed that got him there on multiple occasions. Varize had a consistent run of results last year in Hurricane Mills, finishing just outside of the top five in both Mini Sr. classes, but his form throughout the 2017 season thus far indicates that he’ll be back in the fight for the podium this year. He put together a trio of third place finishes in an incredibly consistent effort at Oak Hill, allowing him to gain some con- fidence heading into the qualifiers. Varize scored multiple top five finishes throughout the race week at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship along with some podium finishes a couple of weeks later at the Cali- fornia Classic, proving his speed in both the Mini Sr. 2 class and both Supermini classes. After taking championships at JuniorMotoX and Mammoth, Jammin’ Josh Varize is ready to fight his way back into the podium hunt this year when the action gets underway at Loretta Lynn’s.
JARRETT FRYE
Jarrett Frye is part of an exclusive group of riders throughout the thirty-five year history of Loretta Lynn’s that has stood on the podium at the Ranch. The Maryland native had a standout year back in 2015 where he put together two incredible performances in the Mini Sr. 2 class earning himself a pair of second place finishes to earn the first Loretta Lynn’s podiums of his career. His expectations were obviously heightened moving into the Supermini class in 2016 and although Frye managed a top ten finish, he wasn’t satisfied with his results. He has been making drastic improvements while training down at MTF and expects to take the top spot in the Supermini class this year while gaining some valuable experi- ence on the 125. Frye has landed on the podium in every major national that he’s entered in 2017, putting himself at the front of the Supermini class at every opportunity. His most impressive performance came at the California Classic where he managed to snag two number one plates ahead of the local talent in a dominant Supermini performance. The Orange Brigade backed rider took the overall victory in every one of his classes at regionals, setting him up for a spectacular year at the Ranch where he’ll be hoping to hoist a number one plate for the first time in his career.
