>> After a successful 11th place finish at Arlington Vince Friese would come into Minneapolis with his head held high. Qualifying at 17th the privateer would settle for a decent
gate pick going into his heat race. The Smartop Motoconepts Honda Rider jumped to the front of the pack in the first heat race pulling the hole shot. With Millsaps nipping at his heels Friese defended his line by hugging the inside of the track, taking advantage of the tight turns. Unfortunately for the pri- vateer rider, Millsaps made the pass on Friese within the first lap. Vince goes on to hold off Dungey using those tight inside lines to cut Dungey off. Sand corner comes and Dungey slides right past Vince. Then the Honda rider continued to fall back to 5th place. In the second semi qualifier of the night Friese once again headed to the front of the pack right out of the gate. Sitting in 5th place he holds his position earning the last spot to the main event. Not being able to pull together
a hole shot for the main event, Friese sat mid pack for the beginning of the race. Fluctuating positions throughout the entire race the Honda rider would end up in 15th position at Minnesota.
