Open Pro Sport started off terrible for @ryansurratt_151 as his first moto
he came around well outside of the top half of the field and could only push forward to a 13th place finish. Looking to get himself back into the title hunt Surratt put his heart on the line in the second race but another poor first lap left him in 23rd going into lap two. Ryan managed to get himself a top 10 finish but his hopes of even finishing inside of the top 5 in the championship went down the toilet. Ryan finally got through the first lap in the final moto clean and was running in 5th and was 13 seconds behind the leader. It was Ryans best run in the open pro sport class, unfortunately the next lap he fell and was now in 12th and nearly 40 seconds behind. He
still managed to push through to 9th and finished 9th overall in the stacked class. On paper it looked like Ryan won the College (16-24) class with ease with his 1-3-1 moto scores but it was actually an all out battle between him, Samual Redman #21 who finished 3-1-2, and Richard Jackson #34 finishing with 2-2-3 scores. If it wasn’t for a brilliant effort by Ryan to come from behind in the second moto to get 3rd he might not have been a LL’s champion in 2016.
