MAXIMUS VOHLAND
Vohland is a name that has been synonymous with motocross since the early 1970’s. The fresh-faced, young blood that is currently carrying the torch and prolonging the family tradition goes by the name of Max. Maximus is the son of Tallon, an accomplished motocross racer with a world-renowned reputation across the pond and beyond. Tallon battled tooth and nail for championships and moto victories with the likes of Stefan Everts and Ricky Carmichael, two of the most successful and reputable riders in the history of the sport. He retired from the sport just before Maximus’ birth in 2003 and it wasn’t long before he started to show an interest in riding a bike of his own. The young Californian started out by transferring his natural ability on two wheels to a BMX bike, winning
5 BMX Nationals in the process. In February of 2010, Tallon got him a Cobra and he began to put time in on the California practice tracks with his Grandpa, Uncle, and Dad. Max immediately began to find success in racing motorcycles, and he eventually earned himself a spot on the coveted KTM Orange Brigade amateur team for which he currently rides. Max is coming off of a 2015 Loretta Lynn’s title in the 65cc (10-11) Limited class and he’ll be looking to surmount the top of the podium again this year. Vohland will be stepping up
to the 85cc machine, which is a tough adaptation
for even the most talented riders to make. There are some developmental strides between the two classes, but he has been able to get a firm grip on the change after more time on the bike. Vohland managed to
take multiple 1st place finishes in the 85cc classes at Oak Hill, but he struggled to score successful results throughout the entirety of the James Stewart Spring Championships at Freestone. He backed up his early season triumph by taking an overall victory in the 85cc (9-12) class at the California Classic, an impressive result to achieve in one of his home state races. He has logged tons of podium finishes throughout his qualifying campaign for the 2016 Amatuer National Championship at Loretta’s and he’ll be one to watch to see if he can put together a consistent week of finishes in the Tennessee pressure cooker of Hurricane Mills.
