Max Vohland showed some incredible speed throughout the six motos that transpired across the week of Loretta’s. He floats around the track with one of the most aesthetically captivating styles of any rider, oozing natural riding ability and making it look effortless. He showed podium-level speed in every race that he contested, but he had some issues that costed him a chance at any overall success. In the 85cc (9-12) class, Vohland had a DNF in the second moto that saw him drop out of 2nd place on the 5th lap shortly after setting the fastest lap time. Vohland also set the fastest lap time of the entire first moto at the front of the field, but he made a mistake on the penultimate lap that forced him back to 13th position, more than a minute behind
Jett Reynolds. By the time the third moto rolled around, he was able to take the insane one lap speed that he showcased and put it together for a whole race after a mediocre start. In a stacked class, he fought his way from 6th to 3rd, taking advantage of a Crockett Myers mistake. Vohland had two incredibly impressive rides in the Mini Sr. 1 class, but
a dreadful last moto held back any overall success he may have had in mind going into the last race. In the first moto he started off behind Dilan Schwartz and stayed there for the duration of the race, slowly losing touch with his fellow KTM rider. The second moto saw him engulfed in an orange splattered battle of wills between three KTM riders as Max Miller joined Vohland and Schwartz and the three battled it out for Loretta’s glory. Vohland wasn’t quite able to match the pace of those two and he let them get away, but still tucked away an impressive 3rd place finish going into the last moto with a low overall score. Things didn’t go as planned right
from the drop of the gate in the last race as Vohland started off outside the top thirty on the first lap. He was able to work his way back to 16th place by the third lap, but a mistake while working his way through the pack which forced him back outside the top thirty halfway through the race. He had way too much ground to cover in very little time and had to settle for
a disappointing 33rd position, but there were tons of positives to take back to California from the week by the Orange Brigade athlete.
