Fast Freddy found himself 19th following the commencement of qualifying, but kept his head high and knew that he would be able to elevate his pace once his heart rate rose, and adrenaline spiked through his veins for the racing yet to come. Nineteenth on the opening lap of moto number one, Noren had
all that he could handle within the murderer’s row of competition that surrounded him. The field, acting as a hole full of quick sand, attempted to strangle the Honda 450 in an instant, but Noren would have none of it. After a mistake in the opening moments, Freddie would fight tooth and nail throughout the
remainder of the race, scrapping his way to appraise worthy 18th. Noren set a plan to prove his worth to factory suppliers again in moto two, showcasing his durability to rebound after a punch from the competition. Pushing his way into the lead pack, Noren was ready to prove his previous years results weren’t to be discredited. Hovering just outside of the top ten two thirds of the way through the second moto, he had full attention on the pristine title of being top ten. He sat twelfth for the latter part of the moto, navigating the off cambers with exquisite precision; his hardpacked background from MXGP experience was paying dividends. Finishing twelfth, coupled with an eighteenth from the first moto, would give the former MXGP prospect a solid thirteenth overall.
