What a heart breaking weekend for Alex Martin and the whole 250 Factory Yamaha effort. There was no shortage of effort for Big Al as he was leading moto 1 for almost the whole race and made a late charge for the lead in moto 2, here is the break down. On the start of the first 250 race we saw little brother Jeremy grab the start but Alex was quick to make the pass around the outside in turn 2. Alex began to checkout and
it looked like he was going to get the race win. A hard charging Zach Osborne put on a spectacular ride and made the pass for the lead with 15 minutes plus 2 laps to go, after Alex made a mistake on the rough downhill rollers. There was three minutes plus
two laps remaining and Alex’s bike started to smoke and he started to drop positions. The smoke continued to poor out of his Yamaha and was loosing power drastically. With just over 2 laps to go the motor went and Alex had a long disappointed walk back to the pits. Searching for vengeance in race two Alex was ready to put everything on the table. With a start inside the top 5 it was likely we could see the #26 battling for the win. Soon A. Mart was into second around AC and it looked like a #37/#26 battle was going to happen, just like we have seen multiple 2nd motos this year. As soon as former red plate holder Big Al got close enough to Savatgy, the Pro Circuit rider would pull something out of his bag of tricks and would open the gap back up. When the two lap board was presented to the leaders Alex put the hammer down and was breathing down the neck of Savatgy but the rough down hill rollers played Alex like a fiddle once again, ending his chances for redemption. Big Al may have lost a lot of ground in the championship standings at High Point, you have to remember this is a long series and anything and everything will happen.
