Nicholas Romano qualified through all three of his heat races with solid results, the best of those being a 2nd in the 65cc (10-11) behind his teammate Ryder DiFrancesco whom he battled intensely at Mini-O’s. His starts hindered his results all weekend on a track where you had to search for smooth lines to make passes. There were few 180 corners which made block passes difficult to execute, even for the smaller bikes. Aggressive riding was necessary to move forward, something that Romano boldly show- cased. He rode with a commanding style all weekend long that allowed him to make passes - airing out wall jumps farther than his competitors, holding it wide open around the top of the berms, and banging bars in the tight switchback corners in order to make moves.
