>> Jon Jon Ames busted onto the pro scene just a few weeks ago at Anaheim 1. In his first Supercross race ever, he was able to qualify for the Main Event. Unfortunately, crashes denied him any hopes of
a good finish but his efforts were good enough to get a call from a team. Jon Jon got the call from BPR Yamaha to fill in for the injured Chris Alldredge and lined up the next weekend in San Diego on a brand new bike. He qualified straight from the heat and was ready to do battle in the Main but a mechanical problem ended his night early. Anaheim 2 was all about redemption for Ames on Saturday, as he looked fast and smooth in practice. Jon Jon got a great start when the gate dropped for 250 Heat 1, but was pushed outside of the top ten early on. Unfortunately, a crash would drop him back and he would use the rest of the race as a learning experience to get ready for the next one. Jon would do what he needed to in the LCQ as he was able to take 3rd place and go to the Main determined to finish solid. In the Main, Jon Jon was forced outside again in the first corner due to a bad gate pick. He was pushed off the track as he was running just outside the top ten but fortunately was able to re-enter in about the same position, 12th. Then, just a couple of laps in, the Anaheim track would force a mistake as he dropped back quickly. He would get back going in 20th position where he stayed for the remainder of the race. There is no doubt that Jon Jon has the ability to do well and he will be looking to improve next week as he was forced to settle for another disappointing finish in Anaheim.
