Barry took advantage of his exceptional qualifying position to put himself in the battle for the top five throughout the opening
laps of the first race, settling into seventh position on the opening lap. He lost a spot to Conner Blevins on the next time
around the circuit, but Barry remained undeterred as he hung onto the tail end of the pack, waiting patiently to make a
charge at the end of the race.

He kept his tires cool and used his superior grip throughout the last couple of laps, forcing
his way past Brandon Paasch, Jason Aguilar, and Jason Farrell in just two laps. At that point, the rider out of Illinois locked onto the rear wheel of Shane Richardson for the remaining three laps in an attempt to burst his way into the top five, but
he wasn’t able to close the gap to the New Zealander as he crossed the finish line approximately five seconds behind his fellow Kawasaki competitor. Nonetheless, it was far and away the best ride of the season at what’s considered his home race, placing him in a positive mindset for the second race of the weekend. Barry wasn’t able to replicate his jump from the opening race when the lights went out on Sunday as he fell back just outside of the top ten on the opening lap. He became engulfed in a battle with Daytona Anderson throughout the early stages of the race as the two riders circulated in tandem, matching one another’s lap times. Shortly thereafter, he came under pressure from the Yamaha of Andrew Lee and was forced to concede the position on the seventh lap, dropping back to thirteenth place momentarily. In the closing laps of the race, Barry was gifted a couple positions by mistakes further up the field, moving him into eleventh position at the checkered flag.
