Mazziotto III laid down some solid laps throughout the first couple of practice sessions and fought through an inclement qualifying
session on Saturday morning in order to qualify at the head of the fifth row of the grid. The New Jersey native laid down a
2:39.023, clinching the thirteenth fastest time heading into the racing action.
As the lights went out to signify the start of the first race, Mazziotto III blasted into the first corner just outside the top ten. The New Jersey native settled into eleventh position, slightly losing touch with the group ahead of him as he fought to keep the Yamaha duo of Andrew Lee and Ashton Yates at bay. The three
of them duked it out during the midway point of the race, matching each other’s lap times one after another. Mazziotto III began
to battle grip issues in the late stages of the race and he wasn’t able to hold Lee at bay, conceding eleventh position with only
two laps to go, but he remained determined to hold onto twelfth position. The Yamaha trio put on a show for the crowd in the final stages of the race as they battled tooth and nail, slipstreaming each other to the finish line in a classic six wheeled battle. He was able to hold onto twelfth spot overall by just two tenths of a second, earning him sixth place in the Superstock 600 class. In the second race, Mazziotto III got a better jump off the grid and fought his way into the top ten through the first corner. He came across the line in ninth position overall on the opening lap, battling with a gaggle of riders that made up the Superstock 600 podium.
He lost touch with the front runners and remained in ninth position all the way until the seventh lap when JC Camacho found his way past, demoting him to tenth position. Mazziotto III held his composure and regrouped in the late stages of the race, taking advantage of other rider’s misfortune in order to move up to eighth place overall, clinching his second podium of the season in the process.
