ANDREWLEE
SUPERSTOCK 600
Lee powered through a challenging qualifying session on Saturday morning that provided the riders with a slick, damp track that
could catch them off guard at any moment. The rider out of California put his YZF-R6 at the front of the sixth row with a 2:40.187,
leaving him room for improvement when the racing began.
The lights went out to signify the start of the first race and Lee jumped up towards the edge of the top ten, eventually settling into twelfth position behind Anthony Mazziotto III. He brought the Yamaha
of Ashton Yates along with him and the trio of riders were engulfed in a classic battle all the way until the checkered flag. Lee remained in the middle of the Yamaha sandwich until the fifth lap when he launched an attack on Mazziotto III, promoting himself to eleventh place overall, fifth in the Superstock 600 class. He was able to maintain the position all the way until the checkered flag, nullifying the slipstream of his competitors on the final lap in order to take the position with an advantage of just four tenths of a second. In the second race, Lee maintained his position off of the start and found himself in thirteenth position for the first half of the race. He tucked in behind the ZX-6R of Jody Barry all the way until the seventh lap when he finally found a way past, moving into twelfth place overall. He withstood the pressure from Barry for the next couple of laps and cemented himself in twelfth position, eventually moving up a couple more spots in the waning moments of the race due to mistakes further up the field. Lee ended
up taking the checkered flag in tenth place overall, fourth in the Superstock 600 class, to wrap up his best weekend of the 2017 season thus far.
