Beauchamp bounced back from his mistake at VIR and laid down some fast laps in Friday’s qualifying session, placing him at the back of the front row of the grid with a 2:51.091. The Tennessee native got
a solid start in the opening race of the weekend as he found himself within the top five on the first lap, battling for position with Alex Dumas and Gavin Anthony. He was involved in a seven rider battle
for the last spot on the podium throughout the entire race, constantly swapping and changing positions with each passing lap. Beauchamp managed to put himself at the helm of the pack on the third lap, but his size was working against him on the massive straightaways at Road America. He placed himself in the best position possible on the final lap as he came out of the last corner ahead of the pack, but Anthony was able to draft him to the line and force him back to third position.
In the second race, the youngster out of Tennessee found himself in
a similar position as the battle for fourth position consisted of eight riders from front to back. He fell back off the start and found himself in seventh position on the opening lap, eventually working his way up to fifth place by the fifth lap. Beauchamp battled tooth and nail with Alex Dumas throughout the last couple laps of the race and he was able to outpace the young Canadian over the course of the final laps, out- dragging him to the finish line to clinch fourth spot by just one tenth of a second. His consistent results throughout the weekend allowed him to maintain second place in the points, but he’ll be looking to make up some ground on Benjamin Smith at the next round of action in Utah.
