JASONAGUILAR
The shortened race distance following the red flag presented the competitors with an eight lap sprint to the checkered flag and the twenty year old revelled under the circumstances as he led the fight for seventh place
overall ahead of Michael Gilbert. The two of them duked it out in the final stages of the race in order to sort out the order of the last
two spots on the Superstock 600 podium, incessantly inching away from Daytona Anderson in the process. It was Aguilar’s Yamaha that maintained the advantage at the line as he bested Gilbert by merely three tenths of a second in order to secure his first podium finish of the 2017 season. In the second race, the Californian made a quick move throughout the early stages in order to move past JC Camacho into seventh position. The top six had already sprinted away into the distance and Aguilar was able to stay in command of the six rider pack for the majority of the eighteen laps, eventually coming under pressure from Daytona Anderson at the midway point of the race. He launched a counterattack and began to escape from the group in another battle for the final two podium spots with Gilbert, but this time they finished the other way around as Aguilar ran out of steam at the end of the race, settling for third position in the class.
