Ryder DiFrancesco was in fine form during the opening day of
racing in the picturesque mountainscapes of Mammoth Lakes,
California. The Team Green Kawasaki wonderkid entered the 85cc
(9-12) class as well as the Mini Sr. 2 (9-14) class with his sights set
DiFrancesco was looking incredibly comfortable throughout practice and the heat races, tossing it
sideways over many of the sprawling jumps around the scenic Mammoth layout. The Team Dunlop Elite rider finished seventh in his Mini Sr. 2 heat and second place in his 85cc heat, promoting him directly into both main events. Unfortunately, things didn’t go
as planned for the youngster as he found himself in the back of the pack at the start of the Mini Sr. 2 main event. DiFrancesco found himself within the top twenty only a couple of laps into the race,
but he wasn’t able to finish and ended up scoring a DNF. It was
the complete opposite in the 85cc class as the Californian sprinted to the front of the pack in the early stages of the moto. He started
in third place and quickly worked his way past Julien Beaumer, putting himself on the rear fender of his Team Green teammate, Jett Reynolds. The two of them pulled away from the rest of the field and DiFrancesco firmly controlled second position, eventually crossing
