MAX MARKOLF
Max Markolf is always easily spotted on and off the track due to his lanky build, exceptional style, electric smile, and happy-go-lucky personality. It was undeniable that the rider out of South Carolina had exceptional speed throughout the weekend of racing at Mammoth Motocross, undoubtedly establishing himself as one of the top contenders in the pro classes. The KTM rider was set to contest the 450 A class, the 250 A class, and the Open Pro Sport class where he’d be hunting down bears the whole weekend. Racing started in the Open Pro Sport class and Markolf immediately impressed, throwing down an incredible performance in his heat race. He sprinted out of the gate to an exceptional start and put himself in contention for the victory right away, tucking in behind the Suzuki of RJ Wageman. The two
of them built a miniature gap on the rest of the field in the early stages of the race as Markolf trailed him until the halfway point, making the decision to pounce on the lead as he set his personal best time of the race. At that point, he went on to manage the lead for the remaining laps, holding off a late charge from Nick Schmidt in order to earn the victory. Markolf sealed the deal with a heel clicker across the finish
line and put himself in a fantastic position heading into the main event. He secured a decent start in the main event and didn’t waste any time forcing his way to the front of the pack, but an unfortunate incident in which he clipped another rider’s rear tire sent him to the ground. Markolf picked himself up in a hurry
