>> Although no one wants to see another rider injured it was the only chance of anyone seeing the #12 line up in 2017. Jake was fortunate enough to have a bike to ride throughout the off season from the RCH team even though he wasn’t going to ride for them. Seeing as Jake has been on a 450 Suzuki often throughout his 450 career it was a clear choice for JGR to pick him up as their fill in rider when Barcia got injured. It was a win/win situation for both rider and team, Jake could give the team knowledge on the Suzuki motor- cycle and the team could give Jake a paycheck. Realistically Jake has to be happy with his 16th place finish tonight in San Diego, considering he wasn’t employed two weeks ago. If you are even slightly behind the gun in the 450 class this season you can bet you will see yourself going to the semi races. The former lites champion got off to a good start and was able to hold his position for the whole semi solidifying his spot in the main. Starting just outside of the top 10 things where looking good for the fill in rider, sadly Jake got pushed back right away to 18th. Miscalculations from other rac-
ers and consistency from himself Weimer was able to push forward even finding himself inside of the top 15 at one point. Over the long haul Jake mustered a 16th place finish and is guaranteed 2 more races accompanied by JGR.
