>> The Illinois native of Cody Vanbuskirk took a while to get go- ing in Grand Rapids as he stuck his Woodstock KTM in thirteenth place overall after timed qualifying. Vanbuskirk fit in just behind McAdoo in his heat race as he took a sixth place finish going into the mains. The Woodstock KTM rider was able to put in a hard charge after a mediocre start in the first main event. He found him- self crossing the finish line in eleventh place on the opening lap, but it didn’t take long to start making moves. Before the halfway point of the race, Vanbuskirk had already forced his way forward to seventh position. After a little help from a Jacob Hayes error,
he ended the race in sixth position just ahead of his teammate. Vanbuskirk had a relatively drama free second main event as he started right where he finished. He came out of the first corner in approximately eighth position and held firmly onto the spot for the remainder of the race. He was locked in a battle with his team- mate, Herrlein, as well as Steinke throughout the midway point of the moto, but he did a stellar job to stay mistake free on a gnarly track that was chewing up the best of the competition.
