TY MASTERPOOL
Ty Masterpool was named the 2017 Youth AMA Rider of the Year for his accomplishments throughout the season, most notably his domination of the Supermini class on a relatively stock TM. After winning titles at
the Ranch two years in a row, including two in 2017, Masterpool earned the attention of Yamaha and he was added to their amateur line up for the end of 2017 and beyond. He made his debut in blue at Mini-O’s and snagged two overall victories, stockpiling some momentum for the 2018 season. Masterpool started things off on the right foot for the Amateur Supercross in Anaheim, scoring a second and fourth in his heat races. His starts were consistent and he found himself out front in both main events, but small mistakes held him back from achieving the top step of the podium and he ended the night with two second place finishes. Nonetheless, Masterpool showed his speed and he’ll be one to watch in the upcoming spring nationals.
