chapter. The first moto saw his tires grab the turf-like pad with full precision, and rocket out of the hole. With the holeshot device disengaging, he felt as though he was aboard the strongest machine on the line. Wheeling through the treacherous sands with asser- tion, the 250 wasn’t ever at a
loss of power. He would kick it
into overdrive as Jalek Swoll and Seth Hammaker would inch near, and he could spot the reflection
of the green fender in his periph- eral vision. The two were merely neck and neck as they lunged
for the finish line on the last lap, scrubbing the single-table-top in replicating fashion; however, it was Shimoda who would prevail, taking the moto victory. For the second round of the dual, it was Derek Drake who would take an early lead. The KTM rider would really show a bit of maturity, as
his composure wouldn’t blem-
ish throughout the six lap period. But it left the remaining predators in a whirlwind of battalion like sequences, with Shimoda making his way past Brian Moreau on lap three. With Hammaker knocking at his door, the Honda rider would try to keep steady to the best of his ability. Flicking and scrubbing the chassis of the number 47, he would keep the machine bouncing off of the rev limiter. It was an all out sprint, but he would hold off the number 510 who was on the move. Shimoda, coming across the line in third, knew what he had done; and was rightfully excited about claiming the championship for the division.
