The Amateur All Star Class of the Monster Energy Cup is a division like no other in all of motorsports. It allows the top amateur riders to compete, on the world’s biggest stage, on bikes that are eerily similar to that of those with professional contracts. There isn’t any lack of speed or technique, and the battles most often outdo that of the professionals; with many thinking that this field might provide some of the best yet. Jo Shimoda was a force throughout the day, styling throughout the course for the duration of the practice sessions. Equipped with full Amsoil and Factory Connection backing, without taking a second glance, one might assume he was already aboard the Geico Honda Team. But with those days just around the corner, he’s forced to make the best of his amateur career, and capture as many titles as he can before closing the
