CHANCE HYMAS
With the state of Idaho having a few stars on the professional motocross tour come through the ranks, a young man by the name of Chance Hymas once to create his own path and legacy in the midst of Supercross history. With Jake Weimer coming to mind, Hymas has looked up to the riders before him, knowing what they did to be successful, and wiling to work just as hard in order to prove himself. And coming into the 2018 Monster Cup, everyone on
the line knew that number 832 was willing to go the extra mile in order to be successful. He would battle all throughout practice as if it were a thirty-minute moto, hardly ever breaking a sweat or accumulating an ounce of fatigue. Wishing the motos were a full fledged twenty lap main event, he eyed these sprints to come with salivation, knowing he could all out for their entirety. An eighth place start had him fighting through the pack early on, trying his best to avoid pileups and tuff blocks of all kinds. With carnage seemingly all around, he continued to jockey to the front, whipping the steal horse below him with all
of his might. Fighting into fifth with just a few short laps to go, it was he and Nick Romano scrapping for
fourth place. It was just a little to late by moto’s end, however everyone in his camp was pleased with the comeback ride; he would look to rebound for moto number two. As the second moto was underway, Hymas quickly began to throw down astonishing laptimes, that of 1:14’s, as he migrated with the lead portion of the pack. A fifth place start had him sitting rather comfortably to begin, be he yearned to move up with every passing lap. Navigating through these treacherous sand sections with confidence and great technique, his vision always focused many yards ahead. It would keep him out of trouble, and put him into fourth on the white flag lap. All over the number 102 of Jack Chambers, the two were pacing each other quite well, until the final flag would fly. Consis- tency was key in this class, and with an effort of fifth and fourth, his position would be cemented in third overall. This podium was unlike any other, as he had both national audiences and a sea of fans crowded all around. This was a result to build off of, and his family and friends couldn’t have been happier with his stellar performance.
