WYATT THURMAN >> 2 If you’ve been following the amateur moto- cross scene, for any period of time during the last couple of years, you’re sure to hear industry chatter about a young man emerg- ing from the hotbed of Temecula, California. With so many professionals, top amateurs, and freestylers alike calling this place home, it’s tough to stand out in a place that’s oh
so crowded. However, Thurman is doing
so, racking up ultra-strong finishes at every national he attends, and always in conten- tion for a championship; regardless of the class he signs up for. He was put into heat one, arguably one of the toughest qualifiers of the weekend; where he absolutely shined, even in the midst of Ryder Ellis. Ellis, would get off to a strong start, with Thurman quickly nipping at his heels. He would be scrubbing everything in sight, flicking his bars into the wind with a style beyond his years. With
no fear stagnating behind the lens of his goggles, he truly was jumping, and letting it all hang out, in pursuit of victory. He would hound Ryder Ellis until the absolute bitter end; yet come up just a bit short. But he knew what would really count, is his finish
in the run-off portion of the event. Fourth place off the line, he quickly went through his thought process, and would begin randomly assorting where he could make the move.
He decided to in the back right-hander, going just a hair inside the main line, where he could dive in an extra five to ten feet. It would work! Pushing him into podium contention; yet, he wouldn’t stop there. With everyone else besides Ryder Ellis, running in the two minute, six second lap range, it was Thurman who threw down a whooping two minute, three second mark! Holy smokes was this boy hauling! He would continue, getting less than a second off the lead by race end. With Blecha rolling out front, Thurman would come up just short of a moto victory, and place sec- ond for the race. The point totals would be added together, and he would be placed in second overall, an absolutely outstanding job on the day. Thanking all of his family, friends, and sponsors on the podium, you could bet your tail that once he’s back home and at
the practice track, the local professionals will notice. How can you not? A young man like Wyatt has it all.
