GREG ALBERTSON >>
As the world of motocross seems to grow from year to year, social media has made the entire globe a much smaller place. Making everyone’s busi- ness seem a bit more public, and all members of the Internet knowing a thing or two about one another. And that’s the case with Greg Albertson, as he’s always been a fast Mid- west rider, however the rise of fame in his brother, Jimmy, has brought Greg to light over the past decade or so. Greg, a true jack of all trades, can wrench and ride with the best of them, and decided to drive down the road from Norman, to contest this highly talked about, MotoP-
layground event, here at Ponca City. The first moto saw Greg chasing Vince Montelone and Dave Ginolfi, who sat second and first, respectively. Albert- son, coming across the line in fourth, riding the number sixty- six Yamaha, rather smoothly, as he hunted down his neighboring statesmen, of Montelone who was still in the runner-up posi- tion. With the track being rather deterred, Albertson would push, cementing his way into the third
place ride on the final lap. And as the running order would finish, it would be Ginolfi, Monteleone, Albertson, Knight, and Click. For moto number two, Nick Click, who if you remember, finished behind Albertson in the first moto, decided to hop his way into leading contention. With Ginolfi out front, and the number 588 just in front of Greg, he really wanted to pace himself, just to see if he could still contend with some of the top guys at the event. And that he would, never hovering above the one minute, fifty second mark, and looking to improve with every passing lap. Trailing the likes of Click for sometime, he would pick up on his line choice, especially in the back sweeping left-hander. The number 588 Kawasaki, seemed to pick up on a line that was hugging the banners, and Greg would follow suit, pulling from the number 648 of Payton Knight, every lap. Tried and true, Albertson would persist, as the laps would move forward. He would solidify himself as the third place contender in the class. But due to his consistency, second place overall would be his for the taking,
and he had a little edge over Jimmy when going back to the bench racing discussion. We hope to see Greg back at the races, as he’s always pleasure to have around.
