THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
NICK CLICK >> 3
Bounty hunter’s in motocross aren’t as common as they used to be, with the professional ranks being more glorified than ever with all of their coverage across television, print, and social media platforms. However, there are those privateers who still exist to hustle, go- ing from race to race in search of a lump sum of cash, making a fairly decent living from weekend to weekend. And Nick Click may be the last of a dying breed, as
the Missouri native has done his share of fair racing, Arenacross, and pretty much everything in between,
in order to garner a little money racing his motorcycle. However, now a little bit older, and riding more on
the recreational side of things, Click is hitting race for the pure enjoyment of racing. And that’s exactly what lured him into the Ponca City Oklahoma area, for the MotoPlayground Race. He knew there would be a few heavy hitters, but being a Midwest native, figured he’d seen and been around quite a bit of competition within his day; therefore his speed should be adequate. And
it was, despite coming off a bit of trouble in the first moto, where a sixth off of the start put him way behind the leader of Dave Ginolfi. And as many in the crowd knew, that if you give Ginolfi a bit of leash, he will run with it and develop a lead that many can’t sustain pick- ing up. And that’s exactly what would happen. Despite hard charging from those around and outside the top two or three, Ginolfi set sail in to the wind, picking up the moto victory, and leaving everyone outside fending for scraps. Click, meanwhile, would work his way back from a distant eighth place at one point, and finish a fifth; but he would be back for certain, in the second moto. For moto number two, Ginolfi would yet again make his way into the lead, with Click hot on his tail. Seemingly launching everything in sight, Click was giving Ginolfi fits, in hot pursuit of this race win. Click would take over, and the two would seemingly joust for the lead. Ginolfi would take over towards lap two, and they would duke it out until the bitter end. Pushing his way around the circuit, the checkered flag would wave, and Click would set the fastest lap time of the moto; barely missing out on the win. A strong ride this time, would generate him, third overall.
