Mitchell was ready to continue to hold the flag for his team TLD / KTM on Saturday in New York. He quali-
fied a solid 10th place and was looking forward to the races. When the gate dropped for the first moto,
Mitchell got off to a fantastic start and was running inside the top five early on. He lost a spot early in the moto
to a hard charging Yamaha but was still in 6th place. Then, the red flag waved. Luckily when they re-racked them, Mitchell got off
to a similar start and was running 6th place again. He kept a steady pace up and was able to maintain 6th for most of the first lap. Then, Mitchell was forced to drop back to 8th because of a hard charging Justin Hill and Aaron Plessinger. Then, he regained 7th
by passing Hampshire with just a few laps to go. Oldenburg then lost a position to his teammate Nelson and found himself battling with Hampshire once again. He was able to hold him off and took 8th place at the checkered flag. In the second moto, Freckle got a similar start and was running top five at the beginning of lap one. He slipped back quickly and was running a disappointing 10th by lap four. Mitchell was determined to gain the positions back and did just that. He made his way back up and was running 6th place as they neared the halfway point. Unfortunately, Mitchell faded back to 9th by the time the second red flag of the day flew. He would go 8-9 for 6th overall.
