As the 450’s began to rev with all of their might, a certain twinkle glistened through the goggle lens of Eli Tomac; that spark generated a holeshot, and early race lead. Overtaken quickly by Roczen and Barcia,
Tomac knew the memo that was in place, in order to keep the number 94 at bay. Bouncing through the ruts, making sure to use his knees as springs, Tomac put his head down and began to focus on the Fox uniform of Ken. The bridesmaid in far too many dances this summer, Tomac took his unfortunate spot in line, and sat second for the remainder of the moto. The team would go back to the drawing board, and reissue a plan of attack for round two. Tomac again put himself in a less than stellar position to begin the second moto, right around the eighth place position, and having a freight train just ahead. The amount of lines on this track was absurd, however, it wasn’t as though you could seemingly hop and dance once you had chosen your selected path; once you had set out on a specific point, you must stay there, otherwise a number of problems could ensue. With that being said, Tomac had to back down the bull- dog style we are used to seeing, act a little less trigger happy, compared to his usual terms. The full banana clip he carried shot down all competitors besides Musquin (just in front), Benny Bloss in second, and a yellow blur out front who could only be spotted with a scope. Once around Bloss, Tomac hounded Musquin, slamming the rev limiter as they plunged into the gravity cavity. He would come up short however, ending up in the third position and rounding out the podium on the day.
