The number 25 KTM of Musquin quietly took off the launch pad in a conservative fourth place, patiently
scoping the competition in front of him. With the yellow bumblebee and green bean becoming a mere
distant image off in the distance, the first rider under the “Marv” attack was Justin Barcia. Putting his foot down
in assertion, Musquin proceeded to run Barcia to the yellow markers, overtaking the last podium spot. That charge, although applaud worthy, wasn’t enough to catch the drift of the top two competitors. Musquin would remain composed, and finish here for his moto
one result, taking the bronze medal. Capitalizing on his main competitors lackluster jumps out of the launchpad (Barcia and Tomac) Marvin sprung out to an early optimum position and proceeded to chase Roczen with all of his might. Sitting second throughout the first few laps, all seemed to be well, until a critical mistake in “Screw U” caused him to fall off the motorcycle, and lose multiple positions while attempting to regain traction. Now acting as another cable car in what seemed to be a humongous freight train, Musquin had to methodically position himself to act quickly on a track that seemed to be one giant balance beam. He had eventually worked his way into second, relieved, but still the echo of the number 3 lurked beneath his helmet. He would fend off the Kawi rider for the remainder of the moto, taking second place, and second overall.
