PHIL NICOLETTI
Phil was a rider that put in the hard work as a privateer and was rewarded with a great role with the JGR team. One of Joe Gibbs Racings riders where injured and Phil was putting in solid results, the team offered him a fill in ride (hence the name Phil in Nicoletti). After putting in some great moto finishes on the team, he was offered a permanent fill in ride, meaning whenever their riders where injured or unable to race they would call Nicoletti to the races. This was great for Phil because he didn’t like to show up to the races on equipment that he thought was not competitive. Solid finish after solid finish eventually gave the Joe Gibbs guys enough stability to hire Phil as a full time rider. Although contracts are up this year it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Nicoletti back on the team next season.
