PRESTON BOESPFLUG
Preston Boespflug exhibited excep- tional supercross skills on a fairly technical track at the 2018 Daytona RCSX, displaying fantastic speed on the first day of racing. The Washing- ton native completed a long trek in order to compete at the World Center of Racing in Florida and he made the trip worthwhile from the get go, re- cording two second place finishes in his respective heat races. Boespflug backed it up on day two in all three of the classes that entered, grabbing a pair of third place overall results
in the 85cc (9-12) class as well as
the Mini Sr. 1 class. His consistency on the KTM 85 continued in the Mini Sr. 2 class as he bounced back from a rough heat race, recovering for a fourth place overall. Boespflug took advantage of the opportunities he was given and overcame adversity when necessary, joining the history books as a podium finisher at the legendary Daytona International Speedway.
MARCUS PHELPS
Marcus Phelps made the College (18-24) class look like a cake walk at the Daytona RCSX, winning both motos in comfortable fashion. The South African by way of Millsaps Training Facility accrued comfort- able gaps in both races, setting
the fastest lap time in the main event on his way to a five second margin of victory. The KTM rider looked steady and fast throughout the weekend of racing in Florida and undoubtedly carried that same momentum to Freestone for the JS7 Spring Championship. Phelps decided to focus strictly on the
A class in Texas and his outright concentration seemed to pay off, allowing him to collect multiple fin- ishes within the top ten. He wasn’t able to secure a beneficial start throughout the entire week of rac- ing in Wortham, but he maintained solid lap times and good speed throughout the week, ultimately resulting in a sixth place overall in the 250 A class.
