Tristan was not too pumped to end the season in the mud but he was eager to put in a good result in his last rookie race. He qualified just outside the top twenty and knew he had his work cut out for him if he wanted to get into the top ten. When the race began, Tristan found himself running just inside the top fifteen. He made his way through a couple of riders and was 12th by the third lap. As they neared the halfway point, Tristan was still running 12th place. Tristan was charging hard but could not get comfortable in the muddy conditions. He struggled more and was running 15th with two laps to go. Justin Hill made a last minute pass on Tristan as the laps wound down and he eventually finished 16th. Tristan got a decent start as the next moto began, but was pushed wide as the 250s screamed up the hill. He made his way to 13th by the halfway point and was determined to better himself. Tristan then began to get a second wind as he started to pick up the pace. He passed two riders and was knocking on the door of a top ten with two laps to go. He continued to charge and eventually found his way into the top ten. Then, with two laps to go, the rutted track got the best of him as he shuffled back to 12th place. He made his way to the checkered flag without losing any more positions and would finish off his rookie season with a 14th overall in Indiana.
