>> Daxton Bennick was more than ready to go out with a bang when his last moto began in the Lazy E Arena. He had taken home a win and another top five in his previous classes and his desire for another win was shining through as the gate dropped for the 65 (7-11) Main. Dax launched off the gate and held on to the throttle with confidence. He swiftly got on the binders and ]
got his KTM turned quickly around the inside of the first corner. He was back on the gas and had a commanding lead by the second corner. As the riders meandered through the first couple sections, Dax began to feel some heat from fellow racer, Deegan. Then, in the corner before the catapult, Deegan came into the inside of Dax and stole the lead away. He surrendered it peace- fully and continued to be smart. Dax was then passed again by another rider but was confident that he had the speed to come back. He then stuck to the inside going into the split section which in turn shot him out of the outside of the next corner, giving him the momentum he needed to steal 2nd place back as he flew over the catapult. The two continued to battle over the position until Dax finally prevailed. Now, he could set his sights back on the leader. He put his head down and made sure to hit his corners perfect. For the next few laps, he was consistently the fastest rider on the track and was beginning to apply pressure to the leader. As they began to come into the lappers on the final lap, Deegan slowed, and Dax took advantage. The lead was now down to just a few bike lengths. Dax was now right on Deegan’s rear wheel as they made their way onto the start straight. Suddenly, Deegan began to lose traction and slid out almost entangling both of them. Luckily, Dax was available to avoid the bobbling Deegan as he breezed by. Dax would go on to a well-deserved win in Oklahoma.
