>> The young Illinois man, Mikah Carpenter was looking to make a big impres- sion on the Industry when his day began in Oklahoma. He was lighting fast all day but struggled to get the results in his first few races. Nevertheless, when the gate dropped for the Main in 51cc Limited (4-8), Mikah was ready to shine. His Cobra shot off the line as he held the throttle wide open down the rough start straight. His front wheel skimmed over the bumps and ruts as his rear wheel propelled him through. He was forced to go wide as he came into the first corner a little hot, thus surrendering the holeshot to competitor, Cole Blecha. It was plain to see very quickly that Micah was not going to settle for 2nd position as he was glued to the rear wheel of the leader. He railed the inside corner before the catapult and scrubbed as much speed as he could off the lip only trailing Cole by inches. Micah then launched off the landing and landed with the left side of his body making contact with his fellow racer. After nearly going down, both riders regained control quickly and Micah went right for him again. He
out scrubbed him on the inside before the finish line and by the time the riders doubled through the finish line section, it was Micah’s Cobra that saw the green flag first. He stuck to his lines after that as his Cobra was hooking up just right in the Oklahoma soil. Mikah opened up a 5 second lead pretty quickly and was looking very fast. He continued to scrub his way through the Lazy E Arena all the way to the checkered flag as he took the win in commanding fashion. When asked what it took to get the win, Mikah replied, “I just wanted to get the lead and so I passed him”. The future is bright for young Mikah, he will assuredly be a very popular topic for many years to come.
