>> What an incredible evening for two-time Loretta Lynn Champion Ty Masterpool. Last year, at the first annual Junior Moto X, Masterpool found himself racing in four classes and leaving with one win, a third, a fourth, and
a DNS. The number 936 has always had the raw and natural speed, but for this year’s Junior Moto X, he needed to find that consistency. As the Super- mini 2 class gathered behind the starting gates everyone’s eyes went straight to Ty Masterpool’s bike: a very cool TM. The Paradise, Texas native took off the starting gate in what would be the start of an exciting Supermini 2 moto. Off the start, local Oklahoma City rider Chandler Baker was out front and Ty found himself sitting in sixth place. With 9 laps to go, Ty Masterpool had to dig deep if he wanted to finish in one of the prestigious top spots. Making impres- sive passes lap after lap, the number 936 was able to work his way into the first place position by lap seven. By lap eight, he laid down the fastest lap time in the class: a speedy 32.129 seconds. TM proved that he was made for the TM when he victoriously flew by the checkered flag with the Supermini
2 win. He was joined on the podium by Jeremy Ryan with second place and Joshua Varize in third. During his interview on the podium, Ty Masterpool said that he, “didn’t get the best start, but rode his own race. The track was awe- some.” The keys to the race for Ty Masterpool were simple, focus and fun. With a win in Supermini 2 and a fifth place finish in Supermini 1, Ty Master- pool went on to compete in a special moto that was to conclude the evening called the Jesse Cup, a race to honor Ty’s older brother, Jesse Masterpool.
In a picture perfect ending, Ty Masterpool took the win in the Jesse Cup. The 2017 Junior Moto X Championship was definitely one to remember for the talented Ty Masterpool.
