>> Kobe Heffner rocketed out of the gate yet again and grabbed the holeshot, controlling the race from the front of the field throughout the opening lap. His Kawasaki team- mate of Lance Kobusch worked his way into the lead toward the culmination of the green flag lap, relegating Heffner to 2nd place and placing him in a battle with Tanner Stack. The Missouri native of Kobusch began to stretch his advantage at the head of the field, eventually building up enough of a gap to relax in the lead. Meanwhile, Stack showed the pace to get around Heffner, but Heffner was riding a brilliant de- fensive race as he kept the Motoconcepts Honda rider at bay for as long as possible. Stack was able to force his way into 2nd place with an inside line through the whoops sec- tion, hanging it out as the rear of the bike swapped back and forth viciously. Stack was finally able to make the pass stick as he immediately put some time into the Kawasaki rider that trailed him, but there was nothing he could do about Ko- busch’s massive advantage. The Missourian made amends for the heartbreaking mechanical he suffered on the first day of motocross racing, taking the victory with a commanding performance that will earn him the respect of his competitors headed into the final race.
