>> Carson Mumford shot his four-stroke Honda out of the gate and out to an early holeshot ahead of the rest of the screaming pack of two-strokes. By the time the pack had circulated the track to complete a lap, Mumford already had an exceptional lead over the Husqvarna duo of Larry Reyes Jr. and Jace Kessler. The Geico Honda backed rider of Mum- ford put himself at such an advantage that he could focus
on his own race, but the real drama on the track was taking place behind him in the battle for the podium. Nate Thrasher hounded the Husqvarna duo ahead of him, but it took him more than two laps to find a way around Kessler as the #51 rode a wide bike in order to hold off the Seven MX backed rider for as long as possible. Mumford continued to sprint away at the front of the pack in perfect control of his Fac- tory Connection Honda machine. He continued to clock fast lap times all the way until the finish line, sending a message to the 85cc competitors in the other division as he took the checkered flag with a fist pump of exultation.
