>> Michael Clark shot out to the early advantage ahead of the Yamaha duo of Ryan Martin and Chad Saultz. The three of them stayed within close contention on the opening lap, but Clark had other ideas as he began to sprint away after they took all took the green flag. Juan Pablo Luzzardi worked his way past Saultz and into 3rd position and he began to hound the 2nd placed rider of Martin with a matter of urgency in an attempt to track down the leader before he broke away. Luzzardi made the pass just in time to mount a charge on the final lap, but he would have to overcome a gap of 1.5 sec- onds in order to challenge for the lead. He launched off the finish line jump with obvious intensity as he set his sights on the Honda of Clark at the front of the field. Luzzardi was able to close the gap and make the pass stick with only a couple of corners to go. Clark tried to power around the outside and retaliate, but it was to no avail as the Suzuki rider held onto the position and claimed the victory with a solid comeback ride.
