ROGER HAYDEN
ROGER HAYDEN : MOTUL SUPERBIKE
Roger Hayden has shown a level of aggression throughout the 2017 season that some would say he lacked over the
past couple of years in MotoAmerica competition. He’s
had a reputation of playing second fiddle to his teammate throughout the past couple of years, but the Kentuckian began to alter that assumption towards the end of last season when he rattled off race wins at both Barber and New Jersey. He’s made it apparent from the first race of the 2017 season that he’s on the grid to win races as he’s battled for the
lead every single time he suits up and throws a leg over his GSX-R1000R. Although he’s yet to capture a win this year, Hayden’s only finished off the podium in one out of four races this season with some of the most consistent performances out of anyone in the field. The thirty-three year old came within touching distance of the victory at both Circuit of
the Americas and Road Atlanta, but he was bested by his teammate, Toni Elias, on both occasions. Nonetheless, his pole position at the opening round of the series in Austin and his aggressive riding at Road Atlanta indicate that there may be a new Roger Hayden on the grid in 2017. If the rider out
of Kentucky can continue to score immaculately consistent results throughout the season peppered with a couple of race wins, he’ll undoubtedly be at the sharp end of the title hunt when the series winds down. Hayden narrowly missed out on a race win last year at VIR, crossing the line only three tenths behind Josh Hayes to finish second place. The Yoshimura Suzuki rider will be looking for a way to take that next step and put himself on top of the box when the checkered flag flies at VIR.
