KYLE WYMAN | MOTUL SUPERBIKE
Wyman laid down the gauntlet in Superpole and scored his best ever qualifying result as he placed his Excelsus Solutions/Lucas Oil/KWR Yamaha at the head of the second row with a 1:24.791. He was able to utilize his exceptional starting position to grab the holeshot when the lights went out on Saturday, leading the pack through turn one for the first time in his career. Wyman was in the thick of the heated dogfight at the front of the pack throughout the opening lap, maintaining a position in the top three for the first two laps. As the laps ticked off, the New Yorker notched incredibly consistent lap times as he did his best to stick with the leading group. He remained in a fiery battle for fifth position with Bobby Fong and Mathew Scholtz for many laps in succession, the three of them riding within tenths of one another in a fight for the top five. On the eighth lap, Wyman misjudged his braking marker heading into the first corner and got sucked out onto the grass, dropping him back to fifteenth position. Although he lost touch with the leading group, the Yamaha rider was still able to run the pace of the front runners
as he meticulously sliced his way back through the field. He managed to make eight passes over the course of the next fifteen laps, making up an immense amount of time on the riders ahead of him as he salvaged a seventh place finish. Due to a grid penalty for another rider that was effective in the second race, Wyman was promoted to the front row of the grid. He utilized his exceptional starting position and immediately found himself in a battle with the leading group once again, taking his time to learn from the more experienced riders ahead of him. Wyman settled into sixth position and kept things smooth and consistent, hoping to avoid a similar mistake to the first race. A mistake further up the field on the last lap promoted him to fifth place and he was able to hold on all the way to the finish, matching his season best and leaving him with an optimistic mindset heading into the fourth round at Road America.
