VIRGINIA THEGRID!
JAKE LEWIS | BAZZAZ SUPERSTOCK 1000
Jake Lewis continues to make major improvements aboard his brand new M4 Ecstar Suzuki with each passing round of the 2017 MotoAmerica season. The Kentucky native’s opening weekend at Circuit of the Americas was hindered after suffering a nasty crash in morning warm-up on Sunday that left him with
a nagging foot injury. Fortunately, Lewis was still able to come away from the first round of the season with a third and a fourth place finish, respectively, keeping him in the points chase at the second round in Road Atlanta. He was rested, recovered, and raring to go when the lights went out in Georgia which was evident in his body language on the bike. Jake “The Snake” was a part of one of the best battles of the entire weekend in the opening race as the top three Superstock 1000 riders duked it out to determine the order of the podium for practically the entire race. He was forced to settle for third position after he began to experience some overheating issues with his GSX-R1000R, but he bounced back in the second race to take his first victory of the season -- his maiden victory in the class. Lewis seemed to find his stride on the new Suzuki at Road Atlanta, propelling him to a tie for second place in the championship standings heading into the third round of the series at VIRginia International Raceway where he’ll be looking to stand on the top step of the podium for the second race in a row.
