BRAEDENORTT
SUPERSTOCK 600
Ortt didn’t have the best qualifying session by his standards on his Tuned Racing Yamaha R6. The Canadian continued to improve
throughout the session as he adapted to the cool, damp conditions, but he was only able to clock the sixteenth fastest time with
a 1:34.984. In the first race, he made up a position on the start as he found himself in fifteenth place on the opening lap. Ortt began to use his superior race craft to work his way forward, moving up to fourteenth one lap later. At that point, his progress stagnated as he began to find a rhythm, circulating the track in fourteenth position until the halfway point of the race. Ortt found himself behind the Rickdiculous Racing Supersport machine of Daytona Anderson and the two of them spun consistent lap times, only a couple tenths different than one another. They both moved up one spot just past the midway point of the race, taking advantage of another rider’s mistake and the two of them suddenly became locked in a battle of their own. Ortt found his way past the Californian with only five laps remaining and established himself firmly in twelfth place (eighth in his class) where he would eventually finish. Before the second race, the Canadian made some strides with his bike setup and it showed in his riding as he progressively worked his way through the pack from the very first lap. He started in fifteenth place and made a couple of early moves, working his way past Jody Barry to secure thirteenth spot. The Tuned Racing Yamaha rider kept the ball rolling as he was able to execute a double pass on the Team Hammer Suzuki riders of Brandon Paasch and Brandon Cleland, promoting himself
to eleventh place in the process. At that point, Ortt rode a smart race and allowed the riders in front of him to fight for position, carefully studying their lines as he prepared for the last couple laps. The young Canadian played it to perfection and was able to fight past Daytona Anderson and JC Camacho on the last two laps, holding a small advantage at the finish line in order to grab a ninth place overall finish and a sixth place in the Superstock 600 class.
