ALEX DUMAS | KTM RC390 CUP
Dumas managed a decent qualifying performance after doing his best to overcome the challenging conditions throughout Friday and Saturday morning. The Quebec native ended up clocking a 1:44.889
on his way to eighth place on the starting grid. Dumas fell back one position at the start and immediately began to make up places on his rivals. He worked his way back up to eighth position on the second lap and stayed there until the midway point of the race, saving his tires for the latter stages of the twelve
lap affair. On lap seven, the young Canadian mounted an attack and began to carve his way through the group ahead of him. He worked his way into fifth place as he spearheaded a group of four riders, doing his best to break the draft each time they flew down the main straightaway. Dumas came under pressure from Toby Khamsouk with only one lap to go and he momentarily lost fifth place, but he was able to fight back right away and eek out a one second advantage ahead of his rivals at the line, subsequently earning himself a fifth place finish. The second race was a war of attrition that lasted from the first lap to the last as just more than half the field actually finished the race. Dumas improved his start this time around
and ended up blasting up to fourth position on the opening lap, tucking in behind Benjamin Smith for
as long as he could. He ended up losing a couple of spots on the next lap as Jake Leahey and Trevor Standish found their way around him, but he kept his composure and learned from their lines. A couple of laps later, Dumas made the move back around them and established himself in third position ahead of Standish who eventually fell in pursuit. The young Canadian was also able to take advantage of a mistake at the front by Draik Beauchamp, promoting him to second place by the checkered flag as he took his best finish of the season thus far.
