Khamsouk took a little bit of time to adapt to the treacherous conditions throughout Friday and Saturday morning, but he still managed to qualify at the front of the fourth row on the grid despite a crash in qualifying. He laid down a 1:45.035 on his way to tenth place on the grid, undoubtedly providing him with the opportunity to move up the field when racing gets underway. The Californian didn’t execute the best start and fell back outside of the top ten on the opening
lap, but he was determined to work his way back towards the front. After circulating in thirteenth position on the opening lap, Khamsouk showed his incredible race craft as he made up five spots in just
one lap. After working his way inside the top ten, he only continued
to improve his position as he stormed forward through the field. He found himself in a spirited exchange with Cory Ventura, Alex Dumas, and Nate Minster as the four of them did their best to sort out fifth through eighth. The eight-wheeler got as close as can be in the waning laps of the race as Khamsouk promoted himself to the front of the pack with only one lap remaining, but unfortunately he wasn’t able to hold onto the position and fell back to eighth place at the line. He was determined to redeem himself in the next race as he worked his way inside the top ten off the start, settling into seventh position. After a better jump off the grid, Khamsouk put himself in a better position to battle at the sharp end of the field, running the first half of the race
in sixth place. As riders hit the deck around him, Khamsouk kept it smooth and steady as he eventually inherited third place after making a couple of passes, earning his first MotoAmerica podium in the process.
