>> Aaron Plessinger has slowly been making his way to the top in Pro Motocross. After turning pro in 2015, Aaron finished an impressive 6th overall in points but wanted more. After some ups and downs last season, Aaron came away with 5th overall in points and when 2017 began, he was determined to show he has what it takes to contend for the 250 championship. Aaron started off the season last week- end with some very impressive rides, finishing 3rd overall. He was ready to continue his charge as the day began in SoCal. The track was to his liking and he was very fast in the rough conditions. He qualified very strong and was excited to go racing. When the first moto began, Aaron gave his Yamaha everything he had as they made their way down the long start straight. His efforts paid off as he filed into the 7th place position early on. He was looking very aggressive as he began to make a charge. He picked up a position quickly and was running 5th place by the beginning of lap five. After many quiet laps, an abundance of pressure began to be applied from red plate holder, Osborne. Aaron answered back by picking up the pace. The two got around Nichols, and Aaron continued to push hard. The effort would pay off as he held off
the point’s leader and took 3rd place as the checkered flag waved. In the next moto, Aaron did everything he could to get a better start but his stature hindered him once again. Over the next couple laps, Aaron put on a charge and demanded the positions in front of him. He was now in 4th place and looked to settle in. He then put together a few good laps until losing the front end going into a corner before the finish line. He looked to be hurt but quickly brushed off the pain and remounted his Yamaha. He was now far outside the top twenty with about fifteen minutes to go. Aaron was now doing everything he could to regain his comfort and most of all, control. He was passing multiple riders per lap, but unfortunately the laps were winding down. He would go on to make a last lap pass for 13th place and that’s where he would end up. Combined with his first moto, Aaron would take 7th overall on the day.
