KILPATRICK
STOCKTONSTINEBAUGH
Stockton Stinebaugh has certainly made a name for himself in the C class throughout the 2017 season, winning titles at every ma- jor Amateur National that he’s attended thus far. Most notably, the young Texan earned
a pair of number one plates at the Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship in the 250 C and 250 C Limited divisions, marking his name in the history books at his very first outing at the Ranch. Stinebaugh’s confidence was bursting at the seams coming into the second annual Motoplayground Race at Ponca City, hoping to improve upon his third and fourth place overall finishes from the inaugural event. In addition to the C class, Stinebaugh proved his speed in the School- boy 2 class as well, earning a tenth place overall finish, but the C class is where he was able to show his full potential. He scored a pair of first place finishes and a second place between four separate motos, earning a third overall in the 250 C Jr. class as well as a first overall in the 250 C class, adding to his grow- ing collection of number one plates that he’s accumulated throughout the season. The Yamaha rider established himself as the man to beat immediately in the opening 250 C heat race, grabbing the holeshot with relative ease ahead of the Honda of Jaylend Mc- Carty. Stinebaugh put together consistently fast lap times in the early stages of the moto, gradually building a gap ahead of the com- petition until laying down the hammer on the fourth lap with the fastest lap of the race. The Texan was able to slightly back it down with
a couple of laps to go, eventually cruising to the victory with a gap of almost nine seconds ahead of McCarty. In the second moto, Stine- baugh faced some major adversity on the opening lap of action as he found himself well outside of the top fifteen. The Yamaha rider quickly regrouped and composed himself, battling back to fourteenth by the end of the opening lap. He continued to make incredible progress, dicing through the field like a hot knife through butter as he worked all the way up to third place in just two laps. Stinebaugh stalked the Suzuki of Michael Sandoval for second position in the closing laps of the race, setting the fastest lap of the moto in
the process. He made the pass on the final lap and put himself in position to take the championship with a gritty comeback perfor- mance that encapsulates the true essence of motocross.
