In the opening moto. Hymas found himself tucked in tightly behind the Husqvarna of
Larry Reyes Jr. for the entirety of the race.
The Kawasaki rider followed closely in the wheel tracks of the Seven MX backed rider, keeping the gap under two seconds as he at- tempted to prepare for a final push on the last lap. Hymas laid down his fastest lap of the entire moto at the final attempt, but it wasn’t enough to dethrone Reyes. Jr from the top spot and he was forced to settle for second position. In the second moto, Hymas proved his superiority in the class after battling back from a tough start that put him at a disad- vantage in the early stages of the race. The Kawasaki rider stormed through the field, mak- ing his way from fourth to second in just under two laps. He closed in on the KTM of Kaeden Amerine with only one lap to spare, setting up a grandstand finish be- tween himself and the Rides Unlimited KTM rider. Hymas relied on his fitness and his race craft in order to make the last pass stick, fly- ing past Amerine on the final lap while setting his fastest time of the race, therefore clinch- ing the championship with an impressive first place finish.
