Josh Grant had himself a quiet night in Indianapolis and it all began with a very impressive
seventh quickest qualifying time. He was set up perfectly for the night show and was ready to
get himself back inside the top ten.
When it was time to go for the heat races, Grant was ready. He put his Monster Energy Kawasaki in good position with a third place start. He had a transfer position to spare and Trey Canard took advantage sneaking his way by on lap two putting Grant on the bubble. He knew he would have riders hunting him down looking to head straight to the main event but he held strong and rode to a solid fourth and the extra time to get some rest before the main event.
Grant got a great start in his heat but would get the complete opposite in the main event. He came around lap one in thirteenth but would bobble and fall all the way back to eighteenth on lap two. With nearly nowhere to go but up, Grant started plugging away. The track was brutal and the competition was tough but he clawed his way to fifteenth by the halfway point. He snagged three spots in the first half of the race and snagged three more spots in the second half. It was his third straight twelfth place finish. Not the result he wanted but a very impressive, resilient ride from the veteran making moves on the younger riders late in the race. If Grant gets a good start in the main event next weekend, expect to see him stay up in that top ten.
