despite an unmemorable round for Tomac, a positive aspect was his 6th place main event start showed progress over previous rounds. Tomac, pushing into 4th place in heat 1 after a dismal 11th place start, got a better jump in Indianapolis but couldn’t capitalize due to a mid-race mistake. As a
result of the top ten position for lap one, Eli battled into 2nd behind early on but couldn’t match the high-speed stride of
Roczen and Dungey. Maintaining 3rd from the beginning laps well into the race, Tomac was gapped by the two leaders quickly. He was
still riding strong, set for the podium before a major setback at the beginning of lap twelve. A steep double immediately following a tight
one-eighty prior to the mechanics’ area on the starting line reached out and grabbed the #3, bringing his whole show to the ground.
